This past week we had the amazing opportunity for Dr. Martin to share some of his knowledge about orthokeratology with our community. He explained the benefits of GVSS and how it works.We held our seminar at Nori's restaurant and had banners, flyers and giveaways for the curious members of our community that entered. It was very exciting to learn more during this facts and snack event!
We held two seminars on Thursday night and Saturday morning. We had many potential candidates turn up to learn more about what GVSS could do for them, their families and others in ther lives. Dr. Martin spoke about how corneal reshaping is slowing the progression of myopia in children. As well as how the way the retainers reshape the cornea changes light refraction within the eye and eliminates the need for the eyeball to contine to grow longer (in patients with myopia). 

The Gentle Vision Shaping System, or GVSS, is a great alternative for kids and adults who enjoy sports and dont like wearing their glasses or contacts. GVSS is worn at night and uses corneal reshaping to provide clear vision during the day. 
Dr. Martin is the area's only fellowed orthokeratologist. he regularly attends conferences for the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and has recently been awarded board membership for the AAOMC. Because this was an opportunity for him to share what he does at these large conferences with patients in our area, we were super excited to be able to provide some new information on GVSS for the Mid-Michigan community.
